Hello Châtelainers!

Updates to Elizabeth & Chart Instructions

We know that some of the chart instructions can be a bit hard to understand, especially for first-time Châtelaine stitchers. What we are aiming to do is make them, one at a time, more easy to follow and to make things consistent. This is something we are going to be working on this year!

To start this off, we have put together a complete set of instructions for Sweet Garden of Elizabeth I, with thanks to Jacqueline Pelletier and Wilma Rutten for their invaluable input. The new set of instructions and materials list will be included in the chart download.

If you already have the chart and want the updated instructions, you can just re-download it from your account. If you should face any issues doing so, as always, just send an email :)

Price Adjustment

We all know how the cost of living is rising and everything is going up in price. Over the years, the costs associated with the website and design downloads have increased but we have held off passing on any charges to our customers. It has been many years since the price of the Châtelaine charts has increased but now, we are going to have to make a small increase to the prices from March 15. We hope that you can understand that we have to make this decision to ensure the survival and development of Châtelaine in the future.

So, if there is anything you have been wanting to buy, then now would be a good time. Take a look at your wish list and treat yourself to something at the current price.

Rose Monday (Rosenmontag)

As many of you know, I love the fact that the Châtelaine community is so international and that there are different traditions across countries and cultures. This time, I thought I would tell you about one here in Germany. Rosenmontag is the highlight of the German Carnival season and it takes place just before the beginning of Lent. There are celebrations including dressing in costumes, parades, dancing, and public displays with floats – quite similar to Mardi Gras. Although it’s not a public holiday, most schools are closed on Rosenmontag so children can enjoy the festivities before everything calms down and ends on Ash Wednesday in time for Lent.

This year, Rosenmontag is on Monday 28 February, and to mark the occasion, there will be a special 11% discount on all of the Châtelaine designs from 02/28 until 03/03 2022. Just use code Karneval when you check out to receive the discount.

Featured design & stitcher

Linking in nicely with Rosenmontag and spring being on its way, we are delighted to feature the beautiful Beaded Rose Tile, stitched by Yulia Kryuchkova. The design was stitched on 28ct Tea-dyed Monaco evenweave fabric, using all the called-for threads, beads, and crystals. Yulia also stitched small extracts from the design to create scissor keepers.

Yulia told us:

I started this stitching on 1 of June 2021 and finished it in early September 2021.

For the second summer in a row, I have been stitching Châtelaine designs with roses. Last year it was the roses of Marie Antoinette and this year I chose this design with this beautiful beaded roses. It is becoming a sweet tradition to spent summer with roses around me and creating roses in my stitching. Usually, I spend summer in the countryside with my family, where I have a small rose garden.

Roses in Châtelaine designs are always particularly beautiful. It is immediately obvious that these were special flowers for Martina.

You can see more images of the design on our website and you can follow Yulia on Instagram (@jussique_fantastique) to see more of her beautiful embroidery works. Thank you for sending the images to us Yulia and for sharing your story, we think this is a beautiful piece of work.
