ONL 188 – The Rome Garden & Mosaic Mandala

Choose the color of your fabric

Please note that this are not genuine fabric colors of any manufactuer. The colors have been hand-chosen by me, as they represent an array of colors which act as a decent, though emphasizing background for my intricate design. I strongly recommend to avoid any bold colored and/or mottled so-called "hand dyed" fabrics. Your months-long work on details and specialitles will be lost in any agitated background.

This is a “big” design again – 355 x 355 stitches !

You will have it all – typically Roman gardens, seen in birds’ view – important buildings of the eternal city – beautiful quotes of Roman mosaics, which have been excavated over the centuries. Some nature – some city – some “today” and some history – all blended together with a caleidoscope design – a typical Châtelaine Mandala ! Lots of tiny details, and all the octagon and square gardens will have the same layout, but…differently chosen threads and braids. So you won’t be bored whilst repeating these patterns 🙂

Lupa “over one”

Many different threads will be chosen, plain DMC cotton as well as variegated silks, different weights of threads, perles, braids… and of course beads, crystals, Tila beads – all the stuff, which makes a stitcher happy !

We will use cross stitch over two and – here and there, “over one” too. And Special Stitches galore to add dimension and interest to the piece !

I added an over-two charted Lupa to the files, but please be aware, that this will not at all be as smoothly detailed as the over-one version !

For the irregularly shaped center you will receive an extra col. chart so you do not have to cut&paste there but can stitch along…

The well-known Roman street cats…
